TV Pilot Filming Development and Photos

So after many pre production work and getting ready we finally filmed we filmed most of it on the 31st of October and finished on the 1st of November and the first few parts were filmed in the corridor next to our class which was for jeans death we also filmed the intro at the gate of college, we did the first few interviews and etc these are most of the pictures. We then moved into the other side of the college where we focused on recreating night time shots and where most of the scary stuff was gonna be and we also did my interview which after having mishap with the sound we decided to do that the next day and also did Rorys voiceovers the next day.

overall the filming went well and quicker than I expected since most of my filming takes ages but this lasted 2 days which was good, time wise I need to be as good as this or even better.

We as a group decided that since most ghost hunting shows use Night Vision cameras and go pros we decided that for this project we would recreate that for our project and try and make it more realistic by doing so. so to create it we filmed with the go pro and then went and put it into premiere pro , since it was our first time Fay told us that overlaying would be good so we put a picture on top of the clip, the picture being coloured in a dark green bottle colour to have the night vision effect go through and then we overlayed it by going through the opacity settings and changing the blend mode to Overlay we also tinkered with the opacity to perfect it and at the last picture is what we managed to get.

In the end me and Charlie were in charge of this part of filming and we did good.

Overall it was great to learn more on what to do and gaining a bit more experience with the go pro and Premiere pro.

TV Pilot Pre Production development

So for the TV Pilot I was mainly doing research and planning before getting chosen as the final project , sadly the big mistake I had was not having done a script for the final product which my group gladly took care of mainly Rory Percival who with a help from Charlie McBride made a script from what they saw on the Proposal.

At the top you can see the first draft of our script and underneath this is the list we made where we wrote down what shots we wanted what the story is gonna be what characters we would have and who would be doing what.

This is the new version of the script that was tweaked a couple times to end up with what we have on screen especially the start of it which is different compared to the video now we thought that the montage of other people would take too long.

This is the draft of our storyboard that I specially looked at and improved upon.

This is my shot list that I usually do whenever I make a story based project it helps me to figure out what I want to do and help imagine my storyboard better.

this show American vandal is what helped inspire us to make the show half way through writing up our script thanks to Charlie who recommended it to us.

This down here is what Michaela Powell who was our costume designer mainly wrote down what our characters would wear which helped a lot on finding out more about the characters on how they dressed and helped a lot with filming.

overall the pre production side of this project went better than expected having enough research and even though there was a tiny mishap with not having a script the group worked well into making one and end up with Paranormal Hunters

TASK – Production Role – Job Specification

Director of Photography

(a) 3 Skills needed to be a DoP =

  • Knowledge = a DoP must understand the technical aspects of film making from lighting to camera operation the DoP must know the logistics to what makes the shot
  • Teamwork and Communication = in addition to having technical skills  a DoP needs excellent communication skills and ability to work well with others since most of the time they will be helped with what they do from gaffers to camera operators they will need  a hand to those sorts of things.
  • Career Advancement = Its hard to work your way up the industry specially in film and for that the best thing is to gain experience starting at being an assistant and working your way up the ladder.

(b) Application

  • I have very good camera knowledge. learning how to use cameras from DSLRs to Go Pros I try to gain knowledge on a wide variety of cameras so it helps with the future, I also am alright with communication not the best but I try to break out of my shell so that it helps when I try to get used to this in the near future.

TV Pilot Inspiration

For my TV Pilot Idea what inspired me were mockumentary shows and documentaries focusing on the paranormal thus ending up creating Paranormal Hunters I even made a WordPress post about the whole genre of both sides

One inspiration that was recommended to our group was a show on Netflix called American Vandals which is about a man accused of spray painting on the cars of teachers and the way it was set up was like a professional real life documentary but turned into a comedy

watching this made us more creative whilst creating our show to make it serious about something comedic which worked well in our favour .

TV Pilot Pitch Powerpoint

This is my pitch presentation for my TV Pilot project, since we were trying to make it seem like an actual pitch to TV producers we had to make a powerpoint and give a run down of what our idea was and overall what we were going for.Screen Shot 2018-11-23 at 14.03.03Screen Shot 2018-11-23 at 14.03.10Screen Shot 2018-11-23 at 14.03.17Screen Shot 2018-11-23 at 14.03.24Screen Shot 2018-11-23 at 14.03.38Screen Shot 2018-11-23 at 14.03.47

My presentation seems like it was made in a matter of minutes and thats because it was and thats mainly due to my time keeping and how much I lacked it but it was good enough to be picked by the rest of the class, it just gives a rundown of what I’m going for and what it will be.

TV Pilot StoryBoard

This is the storyboard I was tasked of making for the TV Pilot project, not that useful but useful enough when you want a rough idea when making a film or show, mostly we used the script since we all agreed of what we wanted but its always good to have a storyboard as research .

Storyboards don’t have to be detailed enough when its done it can just be a stick figure like what I did but if you want you could make it as detailed as possible when it comes to making anything.
